My name is Xuye Zhang, or you can call me Bill. There are many reasons why I want to study architecture. Since I was a child, I have been particularly interested in painting and modeling. Perhaps these hobbies have made me always have a pursuit of aesthetic. I think I’m a creative person, I really interest in some stuff which is have sense of design. Since then I have been eager to be a designer. My parents always take me to travel to many places, whether it is in China or foreign, I found that I like to stay in the center of a city or famous attractions, because the buildings there will always attract me, and when at the end of my trip, I was most impressed by the very famous building of that place. This is the biggest reason why I want to study architecture design. Compared with other design majors, architectural design often requires more responsibility than other design majors, because architecture is not just about design, A building can often represent a city or even a country just like Dubai and Khalifa Tower. And I think I am a kind of ambitious man plus my interests and experiences, I thought architecture design is really suitable for me.

I just finished my study in Advance diploma of building design. The reason why I choose to continue my study in bachelor of architecture design instead of looking for a job persistently is because I personally think the style of education and the contexts of bachelor are most suitable for me. In comparison to bachelor, Diploma focuses on nourishing trade specialist, with its study mainly focused on hands on practice and the physicality of building constructions. even though this teaching style is very practical, however, I wish to learn more and pursue additional supplementary learning.

I believe, an architectural designer is not merely about designing buildings, it is more of a responsibility towards society, as quite often, the first impression for people of a city or even a country is based on the characteristic building. Thus, the understanding of a building for an architectural designer should not only stays at the fundamentals and practical stage, but express thoughts and deeper understandings into its design, and design more buildings that can develop the city or nation and bring them into the future. I personally believe, future technical aspects and sustainable development will be the anticipated trend for architecture designs.

I have done various research about studios in bachelor of architecture design and found all of bachelor’s studio have its own very unique features. This is the best way for an architect to practice open approach thinking, thus I am very looking forwards to the studies in bachelor of architecture design.

Over the past years on diploma, I have learnt to utilise tools such as Revit, AutoCAD etc, and gained the fundamentals knowledge in architectural design. I believe when I graduate from bachelor of architecture design, my architectural designing ability will receive tremendous development. "
